Highend Systems with the creation of the Catalyst Media Server and its DL1 and DL2 lighting fixtures had launched the lighting world into the digital age. The Catalyst is a powerful G5 Computer with libraries of digital files, graphics, animations, effects and quicktime movie clips under the control of a powerful DMX interface that is controllable from a lighting desk such as a Hog 2 or 3. The DL1 or DL2 are the lighting fixtures that incorporate a 5000 lumen video projector into the moving yoke frame. When connected to a Hog Console the lighting designer has a new pallete of effects, digital gobos and moving backgrounds to choose from, all of which can be incorporated into the show along with conventional fixtures.
